Hi Jonathan,
I’m sorry to hear about your finger!! I hope it feels better soon.
In the meantime, you can practice just with the bow, playing all the articulations and slurs on the open strings that would be the same you would use if you were playing with your left-hand fingers. Like this:
Saturday March 21, 2019: Zen Ninja Shifts Practice
This week:
Zen Ninja shift practice on Happy Farmer. Just 3 minutes each day will get you to being able to play it with all the shifts beautiful and in tune next lesson.
Gossec Gavotte: Practice first section pizzicato. Watch out for C naturals! Check notes measure 8.
I salute you for realizing that practicing wandering around may not be the most helpful when you’re still learning the notes. As you get more solid, you can do that; checking in with your practice goal that’s written down before you start moving around, and even saying it out loud, can help you stay on target even while you’re walking around. Moving itself isn’t bad! A friend of mine won a concerto competition at conservatory and he would practice while walking around. But he already knew the notes really, really well.
Happy practicing! See you next week.
